JULY is time to:

WATER PROPERLY: It may sound odd, but HOW you water makes a great difference

in HOW your garden grows. REGULAR, watering can be puzzling

but MELNOR makes an electronic timer that is EASY TO program,

fits on your hose connection, and programs for how many days a

week & how long you want to water. I away on vacation and my

plants are watered every other day for 90 minutes.

LONG, DEEP

& INFREQUENT is the way to water Lawn. In the summer the best way to

treat your lawn is to water REGULARLY, DEEPLY, AN NOT VERY OFTEN

or not AT ALL. In a drought, the lawn grass goes to sleep and will wake up

with rain when it starts again -- not the best looking thing - brown and dry-

but if you cannot access regular water, it keeps the lawn alive.

PURCHASE BULBS FOR SPRING: Tulips, daffodils and lots of interesting other bulbs are

for sale now, and many of them sell out quickly. Especially the animal

'proof' ones. I put it in quotes, because nothing is for SURE animal

proof, these are not generally bothered. DAFFODILS, HYACINTHS

SCILLA, AND ALLIUMS are among the favorites. I will do a

few paragraphs on them for the next article.

Get your catalogs or look up on line. I like COLORBLENDS Flower Bulbs

Scheepers Flower Bulbs

White Flower Farm

Brent and Becky's Bulbs

They are all very reputable, good quality, and have good advice.
